As a microbiome specialist, I spend most of my one-to-one patient work not teaching new facts, but going right back to the groundwork — because I keep discovering the same thing, over and over.
Often knowledge isn't the issue: it's application of that knowledge. In clinic I give holistic personalised advice completely bespoke to an individual's microbiome, which is as unique to us as a fingerprint. But part of that holistic work is getting the basics right. Time and again I see the same pattern: knowledge isn't enough. People need sustainable and enjoyable systems in place to effortlessly apply microbiome-boosting techniques. Without them, people feel overwhelmed by what they 'should' do but don't actually do it.
Not with a cupboard of supplements. Instead I worked on becoming a better cook, one recipe at a time. But it still needed to fit around my busy life as a full-time doctor — not some fantasy version of life often portrayed online. I want to show you, step by step, the systems I used to make changes that felt organic and fun.
Let's reframe your relationship with food.
Your gut bugs are the original foodies — they happen to thrive on food that's genuinely delicious. This challenge is about marrying the art of cooking with medicine. Health has never tasted so good.
